Installing a New Bathroom Vent Cover
Dave SolbergDescription
In the case of this particular RV, the bathroom roof vent has a crank cover and a fan. That means you need to first remove the crank handle and vent screen from the inside of the vehicle. Then you’ll take off the previous cover’s crank arm (the replacement cover should have one, but if not then don’t remove the original arm).
Remember that plastic components on the roof of an RV will quickly oxidate and deteriorate due to sun and other elements. For the roof membrane, Dave recommends getting up and cleaning it once a year with Dawn dish soap and then applying a conditioner to the roof material. For covers and other plastic, though, Dave suggests wiping them with 303 Products Automotive Protectant that offers UV protection. This will help extend the lifespan of those white plastic components and ensure you don’t need to replace them quite as often.
